Description
Fight for Liberty utilizes reclaimed wood to resemble the national flag of the United States of America. Maintaining the “as is” state of the found material was a starting point for this project. Only a few touch ups were added, with most of the already weathered material being used. Creating for a likeness is an attempt to consider social relevance. Faded and peeling paint creates a rough, battered texture. Creating in this style can be appealing, yet from what I’ve seen is rarely considered “fine art.” Fight for Liberty attempts to present without polish and still be invited to the gala. What you see is what you get with this wall hanger, but ain’t it enough? How much is enough? What does being free actually look like? This work can absolutely be touched.
