Description
Assemblage art fused with function is on display in The Genesis of Change. What happens when the art has utility? Eh, but what can it do anyway? Does it fly?! I swear, at this angle it almost looks like it’s about to lift off … in three, two, one! As a wall-hanging sculpture the work prefers corners, as its shape is somewhat flush on one side. However, dramatic protrusions to all other sides beg for ample space. This multileveled sculpture presents clear opportunities for added utility. The sharpie-tattooed top attempts to camouflage a spacious cigar-box inner core. Is there more than meets the eye here? The Genesis of Change took over two years to complete, 2016-18. This work is absolutely meant to be touched.
